1 Thessalonians – 5:18 – Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
This is one verse I misread for a very long time. The verse talks about giving thanks ‘in’ all things. For years I used to understand it as saying we must give thanks ‘for’ all circumstances. The revelation I got in my spirit about ‘in’ all things was amazing. It felt like God was saying I must give thanks to him whilst I am in-side things. Whilst I am in-side pain, whilst I am in-side sorrow, whilst I am in-side a threatening health situation, whilst I am in-side debt, etc. So, we don’t thank God for the pain, sorrow, ill-health, debt, etc., but rather thank him whilst we are in-side those things.
If you read about the story of Paul and Silas, they praised God and thanked God whilst in-side the prison doors. They did not thank him for the jail cell, but they praised him whilst in-side the jail cell. Shadrach, Meshack, and Abednego thanked God whilst in-side the fire. The big secret about life is who is in-side with you as you go in-side the challenges of life. The Bible tells us that the same spirit that rose Christ from the dead resides in-side us. So, when we go in-side all that we go through in life, if we can remember who is in-side us and who goes in-side those situations with us, we cannot afford not to thank him. We thank him not for the situation or challenge, but we thank him whilst in-side that challenge.
We thank him because he is in-side us and he goes with us all the time. It feels to me that when we thank the one who is in-side us ‘in’ all circumstances we are inviting him to take over. So, go on and thank him for all that you are in-side of right now. He will rise from the in-side and attend to that which you are in-side of. He will never leave nor forsake you. Keep praising him no matter where you are right now. Victory is certain as long as you give thanks to him ‘in’ all circumstances.
May God bless you and yours no matter what you are going through right now. Remember he is in-side you! Fear not.
