1 Thessalonians 1: 4 – We know, dear brothers and sisters, that God loves you and has chosen you to be his own people.
So, February has been dubbed the month of love. It is a month where lovers are supposed to celebrate their love for each other. At a personal level, it is a very important month for me as my wife and I celebrate our anniversary on the 20th of February. So, it is very difficult for me to ignore the love that is supposed to be shared around this month. I do my best, but I know that sometimes my best in just not good enough because I am human.
The love given by humans is very interesting to say the least. It is love that is based on a reward system. I love you as long as you make it easy for me to love you. I love you as long as you give me what I need. I love you as long as you add value to my life. The minute you stop adding value to me, it becomes very difficult to love you. At least that is what most of us do. Maybe in the human world it is true that there is a very thin line between love and hate. Those we love maybe we love them ‘because of’ and not ‘in spite of’. This is a sad reality that we find in the world we live in today.
Human beings by nature are fallible. Even with their best intentions, human beings sometimes fall short. This is part of our human nature. Friend, today please allow me to remind you that no matter what your human experience of love has been till now – God loves you. He loves you just the way you are. God loves you with your body shape that the world tells you every day to deal with. He loves you with all your shortcomings. He loves you with your background. He loves you with your social standing just as it is. He loves you with your race, gender and status just as it is. He is the only one who loves you in spite of all that you have done. He is the only one who has genuine love for you.
So, today no matter what you have been told. Whether you feel no love from other human beings around you, please take heart in knowing that God loves you. If God loves you, nothing else should matter. Your future is bright, because He loves you. Your life will get well, because He loves you. Your challenges will soon be a thing of the past, because He loves you. So, stress not – your challenges and all that you are faced with in your life right now is not as big as The One who loves you. If He loves you, nothing else should matter.
Please, do me a favour, today, please don’t ask God for anything – just thank Him for His love for you. You will be amazed at how great you will feel by just acknowledging that He loves you. His love will rush all over you and make you whole again. As you go through your day, please remember – God loves you.
